How Orvessa
Was Built

Orvessa was founded by traders with direct experience in frozen goods export markets across multiple continents. The desk was built around a straightforward view: the difference between a trade that works and one that doesn't is execution — reliable delivery, accurate documentation, and consistent counterparty behaviour. The sourcing geography follows the product, not the other way around.

Supplier relationships were developed over several years working across South America, Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific — with cold storage operators, processing facilities, reefer freight providers, and export logistics specialists in each region. Those relationships became the operational foundation of a structured trading desk with positions across multiple frozen protein and seafood categories.

Today, Orvessa trades as a principal in frozen goods sourced from production markets worldwide, connecting exporters across five continents with buyers in Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. The desk focuses on trades where close supply-side knowledge translates into better execution for both sides.

Trading
as Principal

Orvessa operates as a principal buyer and seller of agricultural and food commodities. We take title, manage logistics, and carry execution risk on cross-border shipments of perishable and bulk agricultural product. This is not a brokerage function — we hold positions and manage freight exposure.

Our sourcing relationships are direct — with processing facilities, cold storage operators, and export logistics providers across multiple origin countries. We work close to origin regardless of geography. When a vessel nomination is confirmed or a tender deadline arrives, the product is already priced and on schedule.

On the demand side, we work with food manufacturers, protein importers, retail supply chains, and government procurement programs. These buyers need consistent volume, defined quality specifications, and documentation that clears import controls without issues. That is what we focus on delivering.

Worldwide Sourcing.
Global Reach.

Frozen goods are produced across every major continent. The buyers are concentrated in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. Orvessa operates across that full trade map — sourcing where the product is, placing it where the demand is.

Origin

Worldwide Supply

Orvessa sources from production markets across South America, North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Oceania. Key supply relationships span Brazil and Chile in proteins and seafood, Norway and Iceland in whitefish and salmon, Southeast Asia in shrimp and aquaculture products, and the United States and Australia in beef and poultry.

Demand

Middle East & North Africa

MENA markets are significant importers of protein and staple grains. Halal certification, government procurement programs, and state-backed purchasing organizations are standard features of this corridor. Documentation requirements are specific and delivery timelines are firm.

Demand

East & Southeast Asia

China, Japan, South Korea, and ASEAN markets account for a large share of Latin American protein and grain exports. Volume matters here, but so does schedule reliability — particularly for buyers managing supply chains across long shipping distances where delays compound quickly.

Demand

Europe

European buyers operate under strict import compliance requirements. Orvessa's documentation process is structured to meet those requirements as standard — traceability records, third-party inspection, and export certifications are part of normal cargo preparation, not handled on request.

Two Commodity Verticals.

Orvessa trades in two frozen goods verticals, sourced from production markets worldwide.

Frozen Proteins

Our frozen protein book covers poultry, beef, and pork sourced from certified processing facilities across multiple origin countries. We trade whole birds, portions, mechanically deboned meat, bone-in cuts, and further-processed items — matching specific product codes and yield specifications to buyer requirements that vary by country, channel, and end use.

Orvessa works with cold storage operators and reefer freight providers that meet our handling requirements. Cargoes are available for third-party inspection at origin and destination. Temperature chain management is part of standard shipment preparation.

Active sourcing markets include Brazil and Uruguay in beef and poultry, the United States in poultry and pork, Australia and New Zealand in grass-fed beef, and European producers across pork and further-processed categories.

Dry Agricultural Commodities

Orvessa's dry agri book covers bulk grain and oilseed exports sourced from the world's primary producing regions. We trade outright cargo positions and structure origin-to-destination logistics packages for buyers who prefer a delivered price over FOB exposure. Active origins include South America, the Black Sea region, and North America depending on crop cycle and market conditions.

The desk tracks export seasonality and local logistics constraints across each origin — crop windows, port capacity, and licensing dynamics — as part of how we price and schedule commitments. Offers are based on what is actually available at origin, not derived from screens alone.

Beyond raw commodities, we handle processed derivatives including oilseed meals and other export-grade products for feed manufacturing buyers seeking consistent volume on competitive terms.

The People
Behind the Desk

Elena Quinn — Head of Business
Elena Quinn Head of Business

Elena Quinn built her career at two large commodity trading houses, managing frozen protein export programs across South America and Europe for buyers in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. She began on the pricing side, working FOB positions into international markets, before moving into senior commercial roles overseeing supply agreements with government procurement agencies and food manufacturers across multiple corridors.

At Orvessa, Elena manages the commercial side of the desk — counterparty relationships, trade structure, and pricing. She is involved directly in key accounts on both the supply and demand side.

Marcus Laine — Head of Sourcing
Marcus Laine Head of Sourcing

Marcus Laine has twelve years of experience in frozen goods sourcing and international logistics across South America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. He began in reefer and bulk shipping before moving into procurement roles working directly with processing facilities, cold storage operators, and port logistics providers across multiple origin regions.

At Orvessa, Marcus oversees sourcing across both verticals — supplier qualification, cold storage, and freight coordination. By the time a contract is signed, the supply-side logistics are already confirmed.
